AqueumBase

This initiative involves architectural planning for properties prone to flooding. These plans include a standard building appearance with the ability to float when flooding occurs. If all structures in flood-prone areas were built with this technology, lives would be saved and losses prevented.

Through our network partners, we are investigating innovations in the areas of hull construction and maintenance, façade design, ingress/egress methods, anchorage, weight distribution and measurement, emergency preparedness, communication, and renewable energy. The same technology is applicable to larger structures such as hospitals, malls, industrial buildings, roads, and bridges.

It is interesting to note that highways in Seattle span two of the world’s longest floating bridges. Imagine if the same technology that floats a supertanker could be applied to the infrastructure of a hospital.
